By Rasmus Hansen Issued January 13, 2018 - 11:30 Category: Apple MFi Cables Apple MFi is an Apple certification granted to third party manufacturers of cables and other accessories for Apple iPod, iPhone and iPad. The certification means that Apple has approved that product for use with any of the aforementioned Apple products. Read about how to fix connecting products with Apple MFi cables and what the Apple MFi logo really means to you as a consumer.Whether you are using Apple MFi iPhone cables or cables that are not certified by Apple, you may occasionally find that your iPhone, iPod, or iPad gives you this error message:"This cable or accessory is not approved and may not work with this iPhone" However, it does not mean that something wrong with either the cable or device you are trying to connect. The problem is usually due to the fat or impurities of the Lightning connector used to connect the device to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. How to solve problems with Apple MFi cablesIf you receive the error message from before or the slightly shorter version "The accessory is not supported", it is a relatively simple operation to solve the problem. It only takes you to clean the Lightning connector on the device and optionally on your phone, iPad, or iPod.
. What does Apple MFi mean to me as a consumer?Apple is good at earning money on their products - and good at making money on the products that others develop to run on or use with their products. This applies to both apps, but also accessories such as cables, external speakers and the like.In addition, the accessories that must be connected physically to Apple's successful i-products have the coveted "Made for iPod, iPhone and iPad" stamp (shortened MFi), manufacturers must pay a fixed fee to Apple, either settled with a fixed amount per . unit or a fixed percentage of the retail price. The approval works by the manufacturer signing up for the MFi program on Apple's website. Then they get the opportunity to get technical information and can buy Apple to test the product or save with them about the development. As such, the stamp does not mean that Apple has physically tested every eternally single product. Only that the manufacturer has had access to the required knowledge and had the opportunity to test the product. So clean, consumer or functional, there is no great guarantee associated with the certification. So in practice, the stamp simply contributes to making the product more expensive. You can experience exactly the same issues with Apple MFi-approved equipment as with products that do not have the preferred stamp on the sales box. At Coolpriser we have both orignal and combitible cables! |
